Tor Gjøsæter
Hey Product Hunt! 👋I'm Tor, and I built Amme because I was shocked by what I discovered about baby tracking apps. The Problem: When my partner and I were expecting, we downloaded every popular breastfeeding app. They seemed helpful—until I looked at their privacy policies. Baby Feed Timer, Huckleberry, and most others were uploading our most intimate parenting data to the cloud, sharing it with third parties, and using it for "product improvement" (aka training AI models). Think about what these apps know: feeding times, which breast, baby's weight, sleep patterns, health issues. Why does this need to be on a corporate server? The Solution: Amme is radically simple: ✅ 100% on-device storage (your data never leaves your iPhone) ✅ No account required (no email, no password) ✅ No ads (we're not monetizing your attention) ✅ No tracking (we don't know who you are, and we don't want to) ✅ No cloud sync (your data can't be hacked if it's not online) ✅ Pure Swift code (no third-party analytics libraries) We track ONE thing: nursing. No diapers, no sleep, no bottles. Just the essential question: "Which side did I nurse on last?" Why iOS-only: Building truly native means we can use iOS's on-device encryption, widgets, and privacy features properly. No web views, no compromises. The Journey: We soft-launched in Norway and were surprised to find parents desperate for a private alternative. Turns out privacy-conscious parenting is a global need. What We'd Love Feedback On: Would you use a privacy-first baby app? What features would make you switch from your current app? Should we expand beyond nursing (sleep, diapers) or stay focused? Happy to answer any questions about our privacy approach, technical architecture, or why I think the most popular baby apps are doing it wrong. Thanks for checking us out! 🍼
