Thanks so much for hunting us,@thisiskp_ !
What a time to be alive where you can have a big dream and birth it into reality. I feel grateful for all the users since we launched and their feedback - much of it fed into this v2 launch. 🎥🥂
We had to do some real hacking at LLMs🤖 to make this version possible. Specifically the problems are that LLMs aren't built for video story crafting. Story quality degrades over longer durations. And the context window problem is very real when you have hours of footage.
I am happy for the technical milestones we achieved to get Eddie v2.0 out today.
And I'd love for you to try it and let me know what you think.
====
I deeply believe that if we save you time and from tedious work, humans will go do more creative and innovative and interesting work.
Unfortunately there's a lot of tedium in post production!
And that makes it perfect for Eddie!
Eddie takes days of work and reduces it to minutes. 🤯
Download Eddie for Macs and Windows, and let me know what you think.

@thisiskp_ @shamirallibhai For editors, this is really a blessing! Greatly reduces time costs and makes it easy to operate!

Grats @thisiskp_ and @shamirallibhai on the launch. How does it compare to Final Cut Pro in terms of pricing and features? :)
Eddie AI
@thisiskp_ @kate_ramakaieva Eddie is kind of incomparable to existing video editing applications like Final Cut Pro. The reason is those tools are manual: you need to make edits yourself. With Eddie: you tell Eddie the story and Eddie does the editing.
Eddie gets to a great edit fast.
Then if you need to polish the edit in FCP, Eddie sends that edit there (or to Adobe or to Resolve) in 1 click.
So with Eddie you save hours or days of work. And it is still complementary to FCP. :)
Hope that helps.
Llanai
@thisiskp_ @kate_ramakaieva @shamirallibhai that's a clear pitch.

For the moment I thought that George Clooney is acting in the video. That guy is quite similarly-looking. 😅 BTW, nice-nailed video.

Eddie is super cool. I tried it last month and I am planning to edit my upcoming short film on this. Thanks for the version update. :)

@raghavendra_devadiga4 thank you!!

AI enthusiast and documentarian here...
First impression is that its unclear what you get with free leading me to think its just a demo that I'll need to delete later. You can only sign up with google after you download and open the program. I was trying to test if you can simply cut the "uhms" and pauses, like advertised, but looks like the tool only offers specific workflows like chopping podcasts into tiktoks.
It even asked me to choose my video length (mine was 5mins) so I chose "7 mins" because I didnt want it to remove any information between 3 and 7 and 10 mins.
Looks like it writes an AI outline then if you like it, it auto-cuts it.
This is useful, but I guess I wanted more control and options from the outset - not a one-click bottled limited choice of a few workflows. but maybe my expectations were wrong - I can see a podcaster wanting to pick one of these and move onward without thinking.
I asked: "just cut the "uhm" and pauses. maintain the video content."
It actually asked me (in GPT chat form) if i wanted to try and stick to 7mins or focus on cutting the "uhms". Awesome!
Result: looks like it didn't cut any "uhms" at all, and made weird cuts between sentences because it wanted to reshuffle it when I told it not to I guess. So it made cuts as per its "story rewriting" which for me, makes me fear losing some soundbites I wanted to make sure I didn't lose.
The app itself is a chat interface side by side with a video program monitor result + clickable sentences matched to video segments. Looks like they suggest questions to keep it guided in the chat but also lets you write stuff but it doesnt really follow the instructions off my one first try.
EDIT 2: I actually can type and edit the video based on words (what I wanted) - but this feature is "coming soon". So this launch is not quite ready. Also, you have to edit in sections one at a time (intro, section 1, 2, 3). There's no button to just move onto the next section, so It asks me what i want to do, giving options as sentences, then I have to type "1. use this section despite it being too long" making me read each one trying to guess which will let me move onward...
I hope this helps, overall my experience was a bit confused and skeptical and im not sure how I can get that control and certainty that I want from a tool like this! Great luck with the launch and do not give up :D

Hi @jonwesselink
Thanks for trying this out. And thank you for the thoughts and feedback.
You mentioned you're a documentarian -- this is a GREAT use case for Eddie. But it seems you didn't use it on that type of example, such as cutting together numerous interviews.
There are many, many video use cases, such as documentaries, corporate videos, and music videos.
For focus, we have chosen talking-head videos today, such as where you have numerous interviewees and you then want soundbites from them that are coherently cut together into a story. (Documentaries are usually this.)
Next our core focus is on the beginning part of the process to get to a rough cut. This means making sense of the hours of source footage and then identifying soundbites, creating a story framework, and then editing chapter by chapter. Removing filler words is not part of this; removing filler words is later on in the process. Saying that, yep Eddie can be clearer about what it can and can't do in rough cut mode. BTW Eddie automatically removes filler words when in social media mode.
Do you mean the text-based editing feature is coming soon? Yes.
Also there are buttons so you can just click to move to the next section when in rough cut mode.
I'd be curious to hear what you think if you try it on interviews that you wanted a rough cut story out of.

@shamirallibhai Shamir, thank you for your reply. I have a better grasp of your perspective now. Onboarding tech customers can be challenging, and it’s easy to overlook how they might navigate workflows in unexpected ways. I hope my initial assumptions coming from a fresh viewpoint after reading your landing page and trying things out proved helpful :)
I totally see how this could help people craft a narrative from a jumbled bucket of media. :D
Eddie AI
@jonwesselink sorting the jumbled bucket of media is the most boring/painful/{add your own adjective} part of the process! :)
Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
I’m always on the hunt for new video editing tools. Saw Eddie last time during the first launch. Love to see the progress and iterative approach. All the best!

Thanks! One step in front of the other :)@abbas143official
As a podcaster(who hates editing) I can already see how Eddie is going to massive save me time!
Question: When you say automatic multicam edits, is Eddie going to convert one angle recording into multiple? If yes that's magic!
Eddie AI
@5harath That would be crazy!! 🤯
Eddie doesn't generate new content, he's more there just to help you with editing what you already shot! So if you shot a multicam, like for a podcast, Eddie can sync all that footage then pic out the right angle at the right time. He does that for the full video so you can export that to Premiere or what have you. Or you can use the editing/cutting features after that if you want to get some quick soundbites or something like that!
