I wanted to get rid of the habit of opening up YouTube mindlessly, which would often times completely distract me for hours. So I thought to make a simple Chrome Extension that would just track how often I opened up YouTube. That's all it took. After building the extension, I went 21 consecutive days without opening YouTube once on my laptop. All it took was knowing that my total clicks would go up. Now I feel like I finally have control over opening up YouTube.
