My peers and I were burning through tokens at a stupid rate, and I knew it'd only get worse inside bigger teams. The problem: there's no accurate way to measure both sides at once. How many tokens you're actually burning across local CLIs, APIs, whatever, and whether any of it is producing something useful. That's what YOLK does. It's a counter-signal to "tokenmaxxing", the faintly ridiculous habit of burning a resource and never checking the output. That's definitionally just waste. And as models get better and pricing keeps moving, that waste gets more expensive to ignore. The mission is simple: let anyone win from AI. One guiding rule we started with was "don't ship another dashboard. Create something you can actually act on"
