Since launching ExploreYC, the #1 request in my inbox has been some version of: "This is great, but can I get the underlying data?"
Founders wanted it for competitor research. Investors wanted it for sourcing. Job-seekers wanted to filter every company that's hiring. Data nerds just wanted to play.
So today we're launching the YC Companies Database

What it is:

• A single searchable, sortable table of every Y Combinator company with the columns that actually matter:

• Batch, status, industry & subindustry

• Country + location

• Team size, stage, hiring status

• Total funding raised

• Employee count + 6-month growth

• Top-company flag, nonprofit flag, website

We're a small team. We can ship fast. We want to build what's actually useful.

So honest question what would make ExploreYC a tool you open every week?

YC doesn't have a public API. But Algolia powers their search.

Every night at 2am UTC, our GitHub Actions cron job hits YC's Algolia endpoint, diffs the response against yesterday's snapshot, and surfaces any new companies or job listings.

Today we are writing up an email to YC and hopefully getting their eyes on the project! I think it would be a good addition to their website and if we can get some more official or helpful APIs to hit and extract data from for YC it would be amazing!

hey folks, today I ran a couple of agents to take more data and push them to the platform - had the idea to use ProductHunt.. and so we did it!

we are at over 8.5k companies now!

how are we doing it? we are comparing the snapshot of companies yesterday vs. today and detecting the dif.

major re-write of the platform as I wanna bring more data into it and potentially exposing an API for it.

give me more suggestions of VC/Incubators that have websites and/or APIs we can hit and insert into the platform for everyone to use!
