Is AI making knowledge management better, or just creating more content to manage?
AI makes it incredibly easy to generate documentation, meeting summaries, reports, and pretty much any kind of written content.
But does that mean organizations are actually getting better at managing their knowledge?
Think about how much documentation already gets forgotten in company wikis. Outdated instructions, duplicated pages, decisions nobody remembers making, and information that's technically available but almost impossible to find.
Now imagine AI generating even more of it.
We've been discussing this at XWiki while working on ways for AI agents to interact with existing knowledge bases.
AI can certainly help people find information, organize content, and keep documentation updated. But someone still needs to make sure that information is accurate, relevant, and worth keeping.
I'm curious how others see this evolving.
Will AI help us finally get our organizational knowledge under control, or are we just going to create more content that nobody maintains?
And who should be responsible for keeping AI-generated knowledge accurate?
