Xarra - Read, listen (or both), to your articles and documents.

by
Import an article, a document, or some text, and Xarra will read it out loud while keeping the text in sync on screen. You can follow along line by line, listen hands-free, or switch between the two whenever it suits you. It's designed for moments when reading alone isn't ideal, listening alone isn't enough, or when combining both helps you stay focused and engaged with the content.

Hey Product Hunt! I'm Dani, an iOS engineer with a passion for accessibility. I've been building Xarra for a while and I'm really excited it's almost here! You can pre-order on the App Store now (public release March 26). I'm originally from the Valencian Community and I'm based in London. Xarra (from Catalan/Valencian "xarrar": to chat / to talk) started as solving my own problem: I struggle to stay focused on long articles and documents. When I listen and read together, especially with the current line (and optional word) highlighted, I stay much more engaged. I also love consuming content in audio on the go instead of only sitting down to read. Safari's "Listen to Page" is great, and there's Speak Selection too (and macOS 26's Accessibility Reader is really good). I kept wanting something more purpose-built, so I built what I actually wanted. Paste text, import a document, or share a webpage, then listen with line-by-line (and word-by-word) highlighting, real playback controls, auto-generated chapters for long content, and progress that syncs across iPhone and iPad via iCloud. It auto-detects language so switching languages doesn't mean extra setup. One differentiator I'm particularly proud of: Xarra uses Apple Intelligence in a way that actually makes sense for an audio app. If content includes code, instead of just reading it out verbatim, Xarra can explain it in an audio-friendly way via Foundation Models. A small thing that makes a real difference if you listen to technical content. Accessibility has been front and center: VoiceOver, Switch Control, Full Keyboard Access, Voice Control, Dynamic Type at the largest sizes, Dark/Light, Bold Text, Increase Contrast, portrait and landscape, the UI adapts to you. When articles include image alt text, Xarra includes that in the listening experience too. Native for iPhone and iPad (more platforms to come). Lightweight (under ~6MB). No accounts. No data collection. Works offline once content is imported. You can listen to four documents free; after that, a subscription or one-time unlock supports development. Huge thanks to Raúl Gil for the incredible icon! More detail + screenshots: https://accessibilityupto11.com/... Pre-order on the App Store: https://apps.apple.com/app/xarra... I'll be here for questions, feedback, and bug reports. What's the longest article sitting in your read-later queue right now? 👀
