Hey Product Hunt 👋
I'm Wayknow, the solo dev behind SnapCal — I build it alone, and it's my first App Store app.
I made it out of annoyance. I opened a popular calorie tracker to scan one yogurt barcode and the scanner was behind a subscription. An ad loaded. Then it asked me to create an account. I just wanted to know how many calories were in a yogurt.
So SnapCal is the opposite of that:
• Barcode scanning is free, and it stays free — no asterisk, no trial • No account, no ads, no subscription. Your log lives on your phone • It works offline for foods you've already scanned • One screen for today, a couple of taps to log a food
Today / Scan / History / Settings. That's the whole app.
Honest business model: the app is free, plus a one-time $9.99 unlock (SnapCal Pro) for unlimited history and CSV export. Free still gets you scanning, the daily log and the last 7 days of history.
Nutrition data comes from Open Food Facts — open and crowdsourced, so treat it as an estimate and check the package when it matters.
Two things I'd genuinely love your take on:
1. Is 7 days the right free history window, or am I being stingy? 2. What would make you keep logging after week one? That's where every tracker loses people, and I'd rather hear it now than build the wrong thing.
Happy to answer anything. I'll send free Pro codes to anyone who leaves real feedback today 🙏
