VoidTab – Absurd cures for distractions - Turn noisy urges into a pause, a smile, and nothing more

Got a distraction on your mind? Instead of doing it, ➡️ VoidTab. Backed by a psychological trick, this completely free web app will help you battle any distraction. Just log it, sit on it for 2 min.(read useless cat facts in the app), and magic will happen.

👋 Hey everyone, I built VoidTab because I kept catching myself opening random tabs out of habit: Twitter, Reddit, news, you name it. Instead of fighting that impulse with yet another productivity tool, I wanted something absurd, minimal, and a little bit funny. While digging into research and little psychological hacks, I came across something simple but powerful: if you sit on a distraction for just two minutes without acting on it, in about 95% of cases it fades away on its own. That became the core idea: create a space you open instead of the distraction, where you can log it and let the urge cool off. And in those two minutes, you don’t just stare at a blank page. VoidTab throws you useless, absurd, or ironic filler: an existential goldfish that forgets your distraction, a bureaucratic sloth that makes you file paperwork to procrastinate, a sarcastic weather report about your mood, or a random animal pep talk. What I’m most proud of is keeping it completely anonymous, lightweight, and weirdly enjoyable. No logins, no tracking, no analytics. Just you, your distractions, and a void that talks back. I’d love your feedback. What “noise” do you catch yourself logging most often?
