What do you check before fixing a ship? Launching a class-status lookup on Tuesday

Hi all, Konstantinos here (Greece).

On Tuesday we launch Vessel Class Finder: a free lookup and API for the IACS Vessels in Class data. You enter an IMO number and get the classification society, class status (in class, suspended, withdrawn), survey dates and why the status last changed. IACS only publishes this as a ZIP/CSV download.

Two questions for anyone in chartering, vetting, KYC or marine insurance:

When you check a vessel's class today, where do you look and how long does it take?

And what would make a tool like this part of your routine: bulk CSV upload, alerts when a ship's class changes, or something else?
