Launching Vercatus today. It shows whether ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini actually cite your site
Hey everyone, I’m Norbert, and I built @vercatus . It launched today.
Before the product, the thing that got us started. A few weeks ago we requested the home pages of 64 well-known sites the way GPTBot, ClaudeBot and PerplexityBot do. 33 let all three in. 27 let none in. A default in a CDN or a bot-protection rule did it for them. 17 of the 64 had an llms.txt, and 9 hide half their page behind JavaScript that most AI crawlers never run.
Most teams I talk to track rankings in Google and have no idea what ChatGPT or Perplexity says about them. If an answer engine can’t read your site, it can’t cite you. Often nobody on the team knows that’s the problem.
Vercatus does four things:
Fetches your pages the way Googlebot and the AI crawlers do, and shows where those versions differ
Asks the answer engines the questions your buyers ask, and records who gets cited and where you show up
Works out what the engines are citing instead of you, and rewrites the passages that lose
Re-checks afterwards, so a fix is only marked as done if the citations moved
It also keeps a knowledge base of 180 SEO and AI-search hypotheses. Each one has a source and a grade, from official documentation down to folklore. A finding cites the entry it relies on, so you can see how much to trust it. We’d rather tell you “this is a guess” than hand you a confident to-do list.
You can add your domain and see what AI crawlers can read on it before you pick a plan. :)
I’d like to hear from you on these:
Which questions do you wish you could ask ChatGPT about your own site?
If you run a site and the report says “blocked”, would you know who to ask to fix it?
What would make you trust an AI-visibility score?
I’m here all day and will answer everything! Check out: https://vercatus.com
