I built Vedette because I wanted to know which apps on my Mac were reading files they had no business reading. macOS doesn't sandbox most apps by default, and most developers don't opt into it. If you install something outside the App Store, it can read your SSH keys, your .env files, your wallet data, whatever.
Vedette lets you see that access and lock it down. You set rules for which apps can touch which files, and it enforces them at the OS level.
Most recently, I've discovered Spotify reading my entire Downloads directory -- which was a surprise to me. It also tries to peek at my Music directory and Google Chrome settings.
