I couldn't finish anything for a year, so I built Vector

by

Hey folks,

In a few days I'm launching Vector, an app born out of personal desperation.

For the past year, I realized a painful truth: I couldn’t finish anything to the end.

I wasn't always like that. But between growing responsibilities at work, being a father of two, and everyday life constantly taking over, deep focus became impossible. On top of that, the noise around AI and new tech trends created a cycle of endless distraction, chasing new shiny tools, bookmarking resources, and completely forgetting what I was actually trying to learn.

I realized that I don't need a todo-list or a static roadmap, I need a Career Copilot that helps me with execution, breaking ambitious career goals small, daily commitments powered by Daily Quests, Gamification, XPs, and Streaks.

A defining moment happened recently. After an exhausting, packed day, I only had 90% of my daily quest completed before heading out. At 11:00 PM, I found myself logging back in just to finish that remaining 10% and keep the momentum alive. That was the validation I needed that the psychology behind this actually works.

That consistency compounded. Just recently, I finished a ~500-page technical book - something I hadn't managed to do in over a year - simply because the system kept me showing up every single day.

I’m exploring how to take this concept of a Career Copilot even further, and I’d love your input:

  • How do you stay committed to long-term growth with all the daily AI noise and tool overload ?

  • What is the single biggest bottleneck that stops you from finishing self-guided learning goals ?
