Introducing UX HeatGrid 2.0: see what stands out, record how it is used
Hi everyone,
UX HeatGrid 2.0 launches on Product Hunt today. It is a Chrome extension that opens in the side panel and shows you any page from two angles: what its structure makes stand out, and how it is actually used.
Predict
Ranks every button, link and control on the page as High, Medium or Low prominence. It looks at size, position, visual style, text contrast and how many controls compete nearby. Each result lists the positive and negative factors behind it, so you can see exactly why something ranks the way it does. No recording is needed.
Record
Press Start, use the page as you normally would, then press Stop. You get your clicks, hover, focus, time in view and scroll depth for every control, plus a list of the controls that were in view but never used. The session continues across same-site navigations and reloads.
Show on page
Both views can be drawn directly on the live page: Predict outlines controls by band, and Record paints a heatmap, click markers and scroll depth. Expand any result and the matching element is highlighted.
I'll be around all day to answer questions and read feedback.
