Spent the last couple of weekends building out my API uptime status dash, after needing one for another project, comparing finicky self-hosting options, and over-priced paid alternatives - I settled on the next most reasonable choice, building out my own status page platform. The free tier is enough to provide 5x status pages to cover your side projects, allowing you to create and update users through incident reports, subscribe to notifications on downtime. You can enable 'Subscriptions' so users can also be notified on your projects unwelcomed downtime. Pro is a cheap £10 a month, which scales as you breach 100+ subscribers and 10 status pages. Dirt cheap in comparison with paid options (which start at around $30 pm). We also have conditional/regex logic, so you can check nested values in /health json responses, and a cool interactive globe mode to visualise your servers location, health and response times. As we approach a generation of apps and sites built out autonomously, I think status pages and the additional monitoring uptym can provide free of charge is an easy win!
