Upstream - The inbox designed for humans and agents

Finally, an inbox you'll look forward to. Agents sort your messages, draft your replies, and clear the grunt work behind the scenes, all in a client so well-crafted that email feels light, fast, fun.

the "bet on the tool everyone uses" call is the right one. every "kill email" startup eventually shipped a thing 10 people use. the people drowning in 200 emails a day don't need a new protocol. they need the inbox they have to behave differently.

real question for the team: how do you handle the trust gap when an agent drafts a reply? specifically the moment a user has to choose between "send the draft" and "rewrite it because the agent missed nuance i never spelled out." that's where every AI email tool i've tried lost me. the cost of correcting the agent eventually exceeded the cost of writing from scratch.

if upstream's solved that ratio, that's the only thing that matters.

My inbox is where good intensions go to die. If agents can finally fix them, take my money.

thanks a lot for your support!

what are the intentions want ai to help with/handle most?

Thanks  , that's exactly the problem we’re trying to solve ❤️

I want to try some inbox while looking for jobs. One problem with gmail too many promotional email, mutual fund spam, transaction spam and rarely important email. I want to keep my job email separate.

Rethinking the client instead of inventing a new protocol is the right call — email is where the users already are. My operator question: does Upstream work on a shared or team inbox (a support@ or community alias) where several people and the agents draft into the same threads, or is it modeled around one person's personal mailbox? And when it adapts your voice per recipient, is that learned per-individual, or can a team share one consistent brand voice for outbound?

How do your email agents learn a user's preferences and writing style over time while ensuring they don't make high-impact decisions without the user's confidence or approval?

Umm, how do I invest please? This is exactly what I was after for a mail app. When Outlook??

Designing for both humans and AI agents feels like a very different challenge than simply adding AI to email.

Curious—what workflow made you realize the inbox itself needed to be redesigned rather than enhanced?

congrats team for the success!
