What are the best remote working tools (software, apps, platforms) you use at your startup, and why?

I would love to hear, as well, about less-known names to check them out and recommend them to suitable prospects.

Hi @cristinaimre , we at Brucira use BRUTASK- https://brutask.com/. We built Brutask to make our lives easier during the pandemic. And what makes it great to use is that it feels less like a tool and more of a virtual office! Right from daily standups, virtual meetings, or having some chill cafe time, you can do it all in 'Spaces' i.e. your virtual office. It also has the traditional visual theme with to-dos and post-its which makes it intuitive and easy to use. We're about to launch our product soon but it's live and ready to use. ✨ Do check it out! Other than that we use, 1. Ruttl- https://ruttl.com/ For website feedback, bug tracking, and design review. 2. Slack- for client communications

@cristinaimre @juilee_mahimkar It surely is a great tool, worthy to be tried once. Currently in waitlisted invites only, it is one sure shot minimalist way to plan out your entire day (& even your week!)

@cristinaimre @juilee_mahimkar I have been using brutask for a few months now for daily scrums, the easiest way to sort things and manage time effectively, kudos to the brutask team
Cristina Imre
@juilee_mahimkar Awesome new recommendations. I'm looking forward to see your solution evolve with Brutask and how you'll bring your unique view in this competitive, high-demand marketplace. Thanks for Ruttl as well, had no ide about it.

If you are a Maker and you believe your product is a great addition to a remote company, please let us know to check it out.

@cristinaimre Hey Cristina, we're going to present our product in early July but it is already live and you can try it out. Shortcast.io is a tool that helps remote team switch to async communication and shorten the number and the time of online meetings. We're focused on educating remote teams to communicate with short videos that can be created with just a couple of clicks. I'd appreciate your feedback
Fran Borg
@cristinaimre Hi Cristina, we recently launched Bookmark Llama, an extension to share bookmark folders across teams. This completely removes a lot of back-and-forths which is especially tedious for remote teams working through async communication. Once shared, any changes to bookmarks are synced, and anyone with access will always have the latest version of links and resources (regardless of their timezone or location). It would be great to get your opinion on our extension. Have a lovely day!
Cristina Imre
@fran_bookmarkllama Interesting aspect to solve. I'm wondering what type of companies are you targeting?
Fran Borg
@cristinaimre From our research and initial users, our current target is a dev/DevOps team of 2-12 people in almost all sectors. My partner and I are developers, and we’ve both been in high-velocity teams where documentation becomes out-of-date quickly, and people lose access to critical tools & info due to changes. This issue is especially prevalent in remote teams because there are so many forms of communication, and new links easily get lost in the noise of slack messages and emails. By sharing a built-in browser bookmark folder, the team can have a single source of truth and use a familiar tool. We also see a space for the extension in Sales teams, and it could also be beneficial when onboarding new employees.
Cristina Imre
@fran_bookmarkllama Thanks for the personal additions. Now I can see why your tool has a great potential. I'll recommend it to tech startups during my discussions. Best of luck with your traction!

Hey Christina, we've built "One Transcriber" that is live and already available at the website onetranscriber.com (and would love to launch here on PH as well soon). It's a software tool for Remote Workers dealing with Online Meetings on many platforms (MS Teams, Skype, G-Meet, Web-browsers based, etc.) and in different Languages, that provide real-time transcriptions of any audio or video. It addresses the demand for live captions during online meetings, for professionals who can better focus and takes relevant notes, for non-natives who can better understand what's being discussed, for those who want to record the transcripts in real-time for later reuse, etc. Any feedback, comment and suggestion are very well accepted, thank you in advance!
Cristina Imre
@giuseppe_di_nuccio This is very interesting. How accurate your service is, especially because you're mentioning different languages?
Giuseppe Di Nuccio
@cristinaimre Hi Cristina, thanks for your comment. The accuracy is 85% for the available languages (English US, English UK, French, German, Spanish US, Italian, Chinese simplified, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese BR) as the AI models are very well trained (the software leverages on the AWS services). Then the accuracy can even be increased by creating a Custom Vocabulary, consisting of a list (e.g. 200) of Words, Acronyms, and small expressions, given in input to the service. In such a case, each user can have transcriptions tailored to her/his needs, e.g. in Business, even in the same industry, every project has its own specific terms, acronyms, etc. that can only be recognized by explicitly telling to the AI model to adopt them. Btw, this last feature in One Transcriber is developed but still not released/launched (coming soon).
Cristina Imre
@giuseppe_di_nuccio Thanks for the details. You're on the right track it seems and if you nail it with accuracy even if you niche down you'll have an edge. Saying that because even the big providers are not yet there and a lot of improvement is still needed.

As a maker, I would love to invite you to checkout www.zcal.co which is the Free and personalized scheduling tool.
Cristina Imre
@saurabhc Thanks.

You may want to check out RumbleTalk (https://rumbletalk.com/event-chat). We use it for events next to our live stream. It's a chat room for events and websites.
Cristina Imre
@siena_romes Very nice. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Cristina, with Pager (https://pager.fm) we're building new ways to keep remote teams connected through voice and without being glued to a screen. For now, teams, functions, and whole companies can create and share lasting messages and build meaningful bonds asynchronously through audio. When text is not enough and video too much, send (mini) podcasts to your teammates—interested in learning how?
Cristina Imre
@serainasilja What an interesting product. I'm amazed how many companies are now focused on voice. It's a clear trend that shows where we are heading.
Seraina Silja Hürlimann
@cristinaimre It's still very early days for voice, audio, and podcasts at the workplace, but if you think about it, it's the original way of communicating: telling and hearing stories from real people. Do any common (or uncommon) use cases come to mind?🎙
Cristina Imre
@serainasilja I agree with you being in this space. Lost of use cases, nothing in particular comes to mind.

We are building a product that helps startups to assemble a remote tech team. In particular, find a remote senior developer from India or Nigeria. If you have a problem with hiring experienced remote developers, we will be happy to help you! We are launching on ProductHunt next Monday (in upcoming now on my page) 🙌
Cristina Imre
@oksana_glukhova Best of luck with your launch!
Oksana Glukhova
@cristinaimre Thank you!

HiDock, we invented for our own team purpose, but it is really neat: very convenient to hook to think laptops and connect Zoom/Teams, data storage, external display and keep charging. Check out my bio for it.
Cristina Imre
@seansong Interesting new option to check out. Thanks for sharing!
