How mass-applying to jobs broke me (and made me build barrage.cv)
hey, i'm the solo dev behind barrage.cv.
quick backstory: i spent about 4 months job searching as a developer. filled out hundreds of applications manually, tailored cover letters nobody read, answered the same 15 screening questions over and over. was spending roughly 3 hours a day on this.
at some point i snapped and just started automating it. first it was a janky script that filled linkedin easy apply forms. then it needed to handle screening questions, so i added ai. then i wanted it to run overnight without my browser open, so i moved it to a server.
now it sends around 50 applications per day and honestly gets me more callbacks than when i was hand-crafting each one. not sure what that says about hiring but here we are.
launching march 13th. would love to hear:
has anyone else tried automating their job search? what worked/didn't?
what's the one thing about applying to jobs that drives you the most insane?
building this in public so ask me anything about how it works under the hood too.
