Hey Product Hunt 👋
I'm Jarl, a solo maker. TrimrPix is a small iPhone app that does one thing: it makes your photos smaller, right inside your Photos library.
Here's the itch. Phones fill up, iCloud keeps nudging you to buy more storage, and the usual fix is deleting photos you actually wanted to keep. Every compressor I tried had the same flaw: it saves a smaller copy and leaves the original behind, so you end up with a messy "Compressed" album to clean up by hand. That kind of defeats the point.
So TrimrPix replaces the original in place. No duplicates, no cloud, no accounts. Everything runs on your device.
A few things I'm proud of:
True in-place replacement (the hard part: iOS fights you on modern HEIC photos, so there's a careful fallback under the hood)
Target a size: tell it "get every photo under 1 MB" and it dials in the quality automatically
Granular metadata control: keep the date, strip GPS, your call
$1.99 once. No subscription, no ads, no tracking. And it's open source.
It's the iPhone sibling to my Mac app, built because the number one request over there was "put it on my phone."
Two things I'd genuinely love your take on:
Does "no duplicates, replaces the original" land as a reason to pay, or is it too subtle?
For a small utility like this, one-time price or a cheap subscription?
I'll be around all day to answer anything. Thanks for checking it out 🙏
