What's new in TrailX: 3D flyover, Street View, destinations and a blog
Hey everyone π
Here's what we've shipped on TrailX over the last few weeks:
πΆ Street View (new)
Walk a trail at eye level in real street-level photos taken every few metres, facing the way you'll be going. A mini map shows where you are, and you can pause, speed up or jump to any point. It works on trails that have enough street-level imagery.
π₯ 3D flyover (improved)
Fly the real route over real terrain, with the line coloured by gradient and the elevation profile following along. The camera now glides with the trail and stays locked to the ground.
πΊοΈ Destinations (new)
Browse trails by country and region. Each destination has a guide and its best routes, and there are "near me" pages for hiking, cycling, off-road and scenic drives.
π TrailX Blog (new)
Field guides built from our trail database, with tappable maps, altitudes, seasons and the routes that get you there. The first ones cover 68 Himalayan mountain passes and 132 lakes across Nepal, Kashmir, Himachal and Uttarakhand.
π± Mobile apps (iOS and Android)
New Home screen with a fresh pick of trails every day
Search in the middle of the tab bar
Record button on Home that pulses while you record or navigate
Waypoints while recording, offline trails and maps, and smoother maps on Android
Share destinations, and see distance and climb on community updates
To try it: update the app, open any trail, tap βΆ on the map, and pick Drone view or Street view.
All of this covers 2,000+ trails in 100+ countries. I'd love to hear two things: which trail you previewed, and what you'd want next. π
