I built Trading Cage after taking a futures trading course and trying to become a consistently profitable day trader. Trading is hard and requires a lot of practice hours in front of the screen, learning how to analyze charts and take smart bets. I couldn't find a good way to test the strategies I was learning against historical data, so I built my own. With Trading Cage, you can rewind to any time in history for the top futures contracts and replay the market, down to the second. There are 40+ years of data available with 1-second granularity. During a replay session, you can submit market, limit, and stop orders (as well as OCO brackets) and see how they execute in real time. In addition, while building this I couldn't find a good OHLCV charting library and the proprietary ones being offered were way too expensive for me, so I created FirChart, an open-source charting library for market data with advanced features such as technical analysis indicators and drawing tools. Trading Cage has helped my trading immensely and sped up my path to profitability by several years. I hope all aspiring traders find this tool as useful as I have!
