Our freemium subscription is already live within Toucan; however, the majority of our content is before any paywall. especially like the idea that you can learn on the content you like! Is there a way to customize how much of the text I want to see in a different language? E.g. not just 2 words, but also a paragraph or more?

Hey Vitaly! Yes, in the Settings modal, you'll have the option to increase density and difficulty. We're continuing to make this more and more difficult so keep an eye out for Insane mode coming soon. Great idea and very eager to try it to learn more German – but I'm a bit concerned about the quality of the vocabulary: on your own product page, "gold" is translated as "Silber", that is not... encouraging 😅 I hope it is something that has been done ad-hoc for the page and not coming from the vocabulary 😄

I envisioned a product just like Toucan years and years ago when I started learning Spanish. I couldn’t be happier with the team and what you guys are building! Taylor and her cofounders are “building in public” on Twitter, encouragingly responsive to product feedback, and have an awesome vision for enabling language learning. I am using it already and it's amazing 😍😍! It's not invasive and doesn't take away the experience of reading normally. The single fault I found is that when I read articles in romanian, the meaning does not always match the word. Do you use google translate for translating words?

While we're not perfect (yet), we're constantly improving the contextual accuracy of our translations through an artificial intelligence capability called "Natural Language Processing." In addition, our users help improve Toucan by flagging errors that they encounter. Our technology is becoming smarter every single day.
