Toronto Painters AI - Free painting cost estimates for Toronto homes, line by line

Hi Product Hunt, I'm Mayank, and I built Toronto Painters AI. Why: I run the website for a painting company in Toronto, and the question homeowners ask most is "roughly what will it cost?" The honest answer from every painter is "I need to see it," which is true, and also useless when you are trying to plan a budget on a Sunday night. Getting three quotes takes a week. I wanted the ballpark to take a minute. What it does: you answer about ten questions (rooms or square footage, ceiling height, wall condition, colour change, paint grade, timing), and it builds a range line by line from published Toronto rate tables: walls, ceilings, trim, prep, paint, adjustments. Every line shows the rate used. HST is shown separately, like a real quote. Then it explains the number in plain English and answers follow-ups like "why is it a range?" or "how do I bring this down?" You get a shareable result card and twelve cost guides built on the same tables. Free, no signup. What is honest about it: the name says AI, and I want to be clear about what that means here. There is no language model. The estimate is deterministic (same answers, same range, every time) and the explanations and follow-up answers come from a rule-based engine built from the rate tables and the guides. I chose that on purpose: it costs nothing to run, it cannot hallucinate a price, and nothing you type leaves your browser. Every rate and multiplier is public on the how-we-estimate page. What it is not: a quote. Ranges are wide because prep and access cannot be priced without seeing the walls. It covers Toronto and the GTA only, because the tables are Toronto rates (v2026.09, updated by hand). If you are in Calgary it will be wrong for you, and it says so. You can take the estimate to any painter, and no data goes to them unless you click that button.
