Tori - Japanese listening practice built from your own sentences

by•
One app packed with multiple ways to listen to what you use the most. Paste what you read or journal about your day, and Tori translates each sentence, adds furigana and audio, and files it into topic islands. Then hear it four ways: passive listening with the screen off, shadowing that plays your voice next to the model, AI stories at your level, and SRS flashcards with audio on every card. When you're ready, practice speaking with an AI tutor in 15 real scenarios.

I've been learning Japanese with the owl for years now and after visiting Japan this year I quickly realized that I still don't know Japanese at all. After doing my youtube research I wanted to do more listening and immersion but felt lost since I never knew what anyone was saying. I made Tori to give you hours of listening while still allowing you to understand what is being said and build vocabulary that you use.

nothing like personal experience to build better solutions! :)

building the listening material from your own journal entries instead of generic stock sentences is the part that'd actually get me to stick with it, the vocabulary gap is always "the specific words I need" not "the textbook's words." one thing I'm curious about: when I journal in rough or simplified Japanese, does Tori clean the sentence up into how a native speaker would actually phrase it before generating the audio, or does it keep my literal phrasing so I'm not training my ear on wording nobody would really use?
