Thank You, Product Hunt ❤️

by

Thank you to everyone who followed Tempest during our launch❤️

We may not have had the Product Hunt launch we hoped for, but we did gain 18 followers, and we're genuinely grateful for every one of you.

We're just getting started.

Going forward, we'll share weekly updates here on Product Hunt so you can follow our progress, see what we're building, and get a behind-the-scenes look at Tempest as it evolves.

We'll also post whenever a new version of Tempest is released, so you'll always know what's new.

For now, Tempest v0.1.8 is our stable flagship release, and we're excited for what's coming next.

Thanks for being here and for supporting us early. It means more than you know. 🚀

The best way to support us is to try Tempest, share your feedback, and ⭐ the repository if you think we're building something worthwhile.

Every issue, suggestion, and star helps!

Seven upvotes and eighteen followers isn't the split anyone plans for, but the second number is the one that persists. Upvotes are a day; followers are the people who show up for the next thing.

I'm in the run-up to a first launch rather than the aftermath, and threads like this are more useful to me than the success stories are. The thing I keep hearing is that the ranking rewards the audience you bring rather than the one you find there — and that the pre-launch months are for assembling it, not for polishing the product.

Did anything on the day surprise you? I'm trying to work out what's actually preparable and what only exists once you've launched.

Thank you! I wish all the very best with your launch!

The biggest surprise for me was just how much of Product Hunt happens before launch day. The launch itself is only a small part of it.

Looking back, I should have spent more time building relationships in the community, talking to people, and growing an audience instead of assuming a good product would carry the launch. Product quality absolutely matters, but distribution matters just as much.

That said, I don't regret launching. We got our first followers, some emails with valuable feedback, and now we have a place to share our progress. That's a win in its own way.

Hope your launch goes well!

Thank you — and that's the part I can't see from outside: whether the people who showed up on the day were ones you'd talked to in the weeks right before, or people you'd known for months. I have about a week of runway before mine, so I'm trying to work out whether it's lead time that matters or just the number of people who know your name at all.

The last thing you said is the one I'm taking with me. Launching gives you somewhere to post from. Right now every update I have is a comment on someone else's thread.

Also, I'm on X as if you're there — easier than tracking each other through PH threads.

 Sure! Let's connect on X

Same handle over there — . Just followed you.

And thanks again for the honest read on the pre-launch part. That answer changed what I'm doing with the week I have left.
