Does anyone else hate that every transcription tool now sends a bot to join your call?

by

I've been in a lot of calls lately where three different AI notetaker bots show up in the participant list before the humans do. It's awkward, you have to explain to a client why "Otter" and "Fireflies" just joined, and half the time someone asks you to remove them.

It got me thinking about how many transcription tools now assume you want a bot in the meeting, and how many put a signup wall in front of you before you can even test if the transcription is any good.

I ended up building StrikeScribe partly out of this frustration, it's upload-first (no bot joins the call) and you can try it as a guest with no signup. But I'm genuinely curious how other people handle this:

  • Do you use a bot-based tool, or record and upload afterward?

  • How do clients/teammates react to notetaker bots on calls?

  • For those who avoid them, what's your actual workflow?

Trying to understand if the "no bot" thing is a real preference or just my own pet peeve.
