Start With Me - Let's do this thing differently and set Love up for success

by
Start With Me is a hybrid in-person and online dating platform where profiles are searchable by words—and the barrier to entry is a psychology-based self-discovery journey that helps you understand how you show up in relationships.

I built this dating app after a long crawl out of suicidal depression due to the divorce that destroyed my world and made me realize how unprepared and unaware of myself I was—even though I didn't get married until my 30s. After doing the work—self-work, therapy, marriage therapy, psychiatry, and a massive amount of personal growth (and even more self-work)—I came to a few key realizations: One, there’s an incredible amount of relationship knowledge out there—backed by science and lived experience—and millions of people dedicated to helping others grow in love. Two, a lot of people could benefit from it. Three, we’re navigating a wildly mixed culture, and society has shifted enough that we need new standards. And four, we now live in a hybrid world—half online, half in person—so any real solution has to meet people in both spaces. I derived a plan to bring it all together—from measuring your self-awareness and emotional intelligence through a psychology-based self-discovery journey and discussion modules, all to ensure everyone is exposed to the same level of information before anyone hits the dating pool to start Matching. With dating apps leaving a bad taste in everyone’s mouths, I found my inspiration there and moved on to building a completely NEW APPROACH to the dating world—a whole new product that actually brings all of these Angels of Love (Angels of Love are: Psychologists, Dating Coaches, Singles Event Hosts, Matchmakers) together into a single platform to merge healing, growth, and finding love, all in one space that exists both in person and online. We started solving as many problems as possible that online dating has. We’ve made some impressive changes, and we have so many more in the works—and are still researching a few others. Dating profiles are NOT automatically available or public in the dating pool. We solved the business concern for user retention because we have a whole suite of relationship apps in the plans that will be built as soon as I get the Start With Me dating app rolling forward. We solved the crappy matching experience by making all dating profiles searchable using real words. We solved the need to have so many different niche dating apps by using searchable dating profiles. All you have to do is write down your niche, and anyone looking for that niche will find you. We added a thing called Hidden Fields that allows you to write private things that may affect your dating life—but that field is never displayed on your dating profile. That information is only used inside the dating pool search response. So maybe it’s a medical condition (MS, STDs, etc.), a career you don't want public (such as being an OnlyFans star), or anything else you wish to leave private but that may play a big role in your dating life. We integrated in-person singles events into the platform. Find a local singles event—at the host’s discretion, before, during, or after the event, the host can activate matching, and users can pop in and start matching with the other attendees from the event. I truly and deeply believe in love. I am building this not to filter people out, but to raise the standards and ensure the ones who need the growth and/or healing have the chance—without judgment. Then we add the increased chances of actually finding someone with searchable dating profiles, Hidden Fields, matchmakers, and singles events. If I knew what I know now, my marriage would never have failed. And I believe we can save so many more if we focus on ourselves and raise the standards before we start to explore love. I truly believe we can lower the divorce rate in the next 5 years by 10%—if we can gather the support we need. Also, one last thing: I am avoiding investors as much as possible, bootstrapping the entire project thus far and ensuring our purpose is driven by love—not the maximum profit that can be squeezed out of the individual.
