SpotRecall lets you search browsing history by meaning or exact keyword using an on-device AI model. Open it with Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+K to find pages without digging through logs. It supports multilingual search (English, Japanese, Chinese) via Chrome 138+ or falls back to same-language search. An optional auto-close cleans idle tabs past your limit while keeping indexed pages searchable. Protected tabs stay open. All data remains in your local database with no accounts, cloud sync, or tracking.

Hi Product Hunt! I'm the maker of SpotRecall. I built it for a familiar frustration: remembering what a page was about, but not its title, URL, or the exact words needed to find it again. SpotRecall is an open-source Chrome extension that helps you find pages by keyword or meaning, with AI running on your device. What makes it different: Search exact terms like error codes, or describe what you remember. Your page content and search queries are never uploaded. No account, cloud sync, or tracking. Search across all languages where Chrome's on-device Translation API is available. Optionally close inactive tabs while keeping indexed pages searchable. A couple of details worth knowing: SpotRecall starts with bookmark and open-tab titles and URLs, then indexes page text as you browse. It doesn't import your past browsing history.
