Hi everyone 👋 Meet SplashBack! I wanted a wallpaper app that did less, not more. I’m constantly changing my desktop wallpaper, but most wallpaper apps felt overloaded with options, settings, and features I never actually used. Even the official Unsplash app felt like more interface than I really wanted; at that point I might as well just use the website. So I built SplashBack as an experiment in AI-assisted coding, with a simple goal: create something minimal that I would genuinely use myself. It lives quietly in the menu bar and does one thing well: click once, get a beautiful new wallpaper, carry on with your day. ⬅️ Left click refreshes the wallpaper instantly. ➡️ Right click opens settings. Simple when you want it, configurable when you need it. It’s intentionally lightweight. I know it’s extremely simple, but that’s exactly what I like about it: fast, focused, no friction. One click and done. This is also the first app I’ve ever built, which made the process surprisingly exciting. Working with AI as a development partner made it possible to go from idea to working product much faster than I expected. I’d really love feedback, thoughts, or suggestions for where this could go next. Thanks for taking a look 🙏 And enjoy Splashing!
