I built Specimen because I’m constantly traveling for work — and everywhere I go, I get asked the same questions: “Where are you right now?” “Where are you headed next?” “Do you know a makeup artist here?” “Can you recommend a photographer / stylist / designer in this city?” I’m an on-set fashion hairstylist, and I’ve worked across cities and productions long enough to see the same pattern over and over. The creative network is global — but the way we actually connect is broken. Our relationships live in DMs, group chats, spreadsheets, saved contacts, and half-remembered notes. Finding trusted creatives in a new city still depends on who happens to answer a text. With my background in business and marketing, I kept thinking: why does this still feel so manual? I wanted a global creative network at my fingertips — one place to: Find trusted creatives in any city see who’s actually available and where collaborate quickly turn conversations into real projects That’s why I built Specimen.
