I think we forgot that the sky is still there
I open a new tab more than a hundred times a day.
Most of the time, it feels like nothing.
A blank page.
A search.
Another task.
But behind the screen, the sky is still moving.
The sun is rising or setting.
The moon is changing.
The season is turning.
And I think I forgot to look...
That was the feeling behind Spatium.
I wanted my new tab to feel less like an empty page, and more like a small reminder that the world is still happening outside the browser.
So Spatium shows your real sunrise and sunset, tonight’s moon, the current season, and a new photo of the universe every morning.
We are launching a new version on June 25 on Product Hunt.
Here is the pre-launch page if you want to check it out or follow along:

Do you think a new tab should only be useful, or can it also make you feel something?

I love this idea. A new tab is something we open so many times every day, so turning it into a small reminder of the outside world feels meaningful.
Useful is important, but I think a product can also make people pause for a second and feel something. Spatium sounds really thoughtful.
I think Spatium is absolutely amazing.
One of my close friends is into this exactly; her Chrome wallpapers are all nature, Aquatic life, mountains, and water bodies, and recently she turned her Mac screen tuned into a humpback whale moving through the sea.
For some of us, the new tab is not just a space; it could mean way more for a lot of people if they were shown the other perspective.
I am definitely sharing this with her.
