Congrats on the launch! Online trust is truly essential in days like these. Keep up the good work! Could you tell a bit more deeply how Sourcer works?

@arttu_helke Thanks for your comment! We are still at the beginning and wanted to launch to show the core technology we got down. You may experience it being a bit slow, and we will have major improvements here too in the coming week! About your question, we made sure that the algorithms we used are verifiable, which we will go more into detail about soon as well. Our extension starts working when you enter a page that has one of the websites compatible with the tool right now (https://getsourcer.com/compatible). We analyze the article for you on our backend, perform scraping to get the information, run the algorithms necessary to gain the insight and find related articles. Most of the tool right now is quite functional, but we will start introducing more sophisticated algorithms soon that will tell you the sentiment of the article, how articles are in relation to each other and more. Hopefully you can provide us some feedback on the overall experience in the coming week, thanks!

This is really neat. Any plans to add websites like WebMD or other science/medicine/health sites? Would be great to be able to quickly find the studies being cited in those types of articles!
Wout Haakman
@abby_norman1 Yes! We are starting with news articles and studies, papers and peer reviewed journals are in our timeline, but we cannot give an ETA for that yet as we are working on some more features first.

Hey Everyone, I'm Kristóf Vass, CTO at Sourcer, and we are building your essential tool to bring back trust in online information efficiently. With Sourcer, you will get additional information about the article you are reading, a summary of the most important sentences, and recommendations of other articles to read more about a topic. This way, you can read more news more efficiently and be more educated. We have just launched our product, so make sure to download it now! After installing it from for Chrome/Firefox/Safari, you can start reading news from any of the supported websites immediately - as easy as it can be. We hope you will find Sourcer useful and effortless. If you have any questions or feedback, let us know in the comments!

Congrats on the launch! I also would like to know how summaries are generated, what / how sw teces are determined to be important, and any models this might be trained on. Also an elaboration on what bringing back trust means to you / your company and an how that is manifested in the tool. 🙏🙂
Wout Haakman
@itsbrex Great questions! Right now summaries are generated based on the frequency of the words and how these encapsulate the overall text. The method is similar to TF-IDF. There is a lack of education in how people read news currently, and with the abundance of information online we believe that it should be made easier for people to determine what news they follow. Bringing back trust really means to us that it is easy for the user to bring information into perspective, find what is important to them and give them a foundation to build their beliefs on based on the objective insight we are able to deliver to them. So our tool is really build to be a tool to educate the user, so they know what information is out there and they can determine what they trust with the knowledge as to why that is. It is an ongoing mission to deliver that product that can be trusted by everybody, so hopefully with your feedback we can ensure we do the right thing. Thanks!
