Congratulations again Isabel on your successful product launch. The concept is genuinely appealing to me personally. I however haven't tried the app and want to give you my honest feedback why I paused.

I checked the privacy policy before commenting, since the premise (guides built from places I've actually been) gave me the pause due to privacy concerns. A few things stood out that I think are worth being upfront about for others also in my position.

  1. Public snipplets are both link-shareable and apparently browsable on Explore with username attached - that's more exposure than a private share link, I think the UI should make the degree of exposure obvious at the moment someone hits publish.

  2. Since guide links work without a viewer account, is there any way for a saved place to be traced back to when you were there, beyond what you choose to write?

  3. Deleting an account doesn't remove public content others have already saved — reasonable, I think it's worth surfacing to users at the point they hit "make public," not just in the privacy policy.

None of this is a dealbreaker, just things I'd want addressed before making my own places public. Would genuinely reconsider trying it with clearer answers here.

 I realized my earlier response to this never went through! Really appreciate the thoughtful feedback! These are exactly the kinds of questions we want to address openly.

To answer directly:

Public vs. private: Snipplets are private by default. When you toggle public, we confirm with an "are you sure?" prompt, and that only posts it to your profile. Getting featured on the Explore page is a completely separate step. You choose to submit it for consideration, and it goes through a review process before it ever appears there. So there are multiple intentional steps before anything gets broad visibility.

Location tracing: We only store what you manually enter. There's no background location tracking or automatic logging of where you've been. You add places yourself and write whatever context you want.

Account deletion: If someone saved a copy of your public snipplet before you delete your account, that copy stays in their collection (similar to how saving a post works on any platform). But your original and profile are fully removed.

We want users to feel fully in control of what they share and how visible it is. Hope you give it a try and let us know if you have any additional questions!

One final question to ask, if a photo carries a timestamp or GPS tag, is that stripped before storage?

 Great question. Photos are re-processed on upload so EXIF data like GPS coordinates and timestamps is stripped from the database and never exposed to viewers.
