Hey Product Hunt! 👋
Snapline started as a project to solve my own problem. I take dozens of screenshots every day, and they always ended up as a pile of Screenshot 2025-... files I’d never be able to find again. I wanted the experience of premium screenshot apps—without paying yet another monthly subscription.
The core idea is simple: every screenshot is automatically OCR-indexed, so you can search your entire history by the text inside your screenshots. You can also copy text from any image, decode QR codes and barcodes, translate text in place, and instantly find what you’re looking for.
From there, I kept adding the features I wished every screenshot tool had: scrolling capture, screen recording with GIF export, pinned reference windows that stay on top while you work, and Smart Redact, which automatically hides emails, API keys, faces, and other sensitive info before you share.
Snapline is a native macOS menu bar app with a one-time purchase—no subscription, no account, no cloud required.
I’d love to hear what you think, and I’m happy to answer any questions about the app or how I built it!
