Hey Product Hunt, I feel excited and nervous because I literally have no idea what it’s all about. I was inspired by a guy (his name is Brett) who launched DesignJoy several years ago – a productized service agency providing design on a flat monthly subscription. I’m not a designer, I’ve spent 20 years in software development and now, with all this rise of AI building tools, I see a huge paradigm shift from building SaaS for the general public (even though in some niche) to building very specific personal tools in a matter of days or even hours. Meanwhile, there are lots of people who are far from tech and do their stuff with the help of ChatGPT at most. It’s like two parallel worlds where one part is in the future while another is far behind. Things are changing insanely fast. My idea is to address those active people who would like to join the AI era but don’t really know where to start. Making your own tools implies a lot of decision-making, experience in software development, and observational skills – things that not every entrepreneur or self-made person has, for sure. Designing and building great tools with modern AI is still a job for tech professionals. That’s why I came up with the idea to combine a productized service of personal tool delivery with the power of my experience and modern AI development tools. One can book an intro call with SMBuddy and we come up with what tool they need to build at the moment. We (I mean me and my mate – Kirill, who doesn’t want to go public ATM) are committed to ship updates fast – a 24–48h first update after each new request per customer. All further communication (updates/feedback) is intended to be asynchronous, with one optional sync call per month booked in advance. Unlimited requests per customer, processed one at a time for each customer. There’s only one plan, paid monthly, and it’s possible to pause work anytime, so one can use the service whenever they need to. I know that this could be a controversial business model, and moreover there’s definitely not much of the target audience sitting on PH since most of you already have a lot of experience in AI or you have tech specialists who can solve such problems for you. That’s why I see this post not as a launch to find our first customers, but rather to get feedback or some advice. For instance, I took the process of communication with customers from DesignJoy as a base, but I feel that a Trello board could not work well for building custom tools with the help of AI. My take on it is to ask for a brief .md document that describes the concept and store everything context-related as well as the target code base inside a project-specific git repo. The only question is how to communicate with a customer efficiently to provide updates and get feedback async, having one “source of truth” and not getting distracted by different communication channels.
