10 things silently costing Shopify stores revenue right now

Hey Product Hunt!
Samuel here, founder of Shugert. We've been inside 600+ Shopify stores since 2015 and the same problems show up over and over. None of them are dramatic. All of them cost real money.

  1. Too many apps. The average store we audit has 3 to 5 apps installed that are either unused, redundant, or actively conflicting with each other. Every one of them loads scripts on every page.

  2. Too many font variants loading. A brand picks a typeface, installs all 12 weights just in case, and wonders why mobile LCP is at 4.8 seconds. You need 2 variants. Maybe 3.

  3. Noscript tags left behind after switching tracking. You migrate from UA to GA4, set up the new GTM container, and nobody removes the old noscript tag. Now you're double-counting every purchase and every ad decision is built on corrupted data.

  4. Klaviyo flows firing on the wrong trigger. Post-purchase sequences sending to people who abandoned. Welcome flows firing twice. Browse abandonment triggering on every page view. We find broken flows on almost every store we touch.

  5. Missing Meta Pixel purchase events post-iOS14. Server-side events not configured, browser events blocked, conversion API not set up. The store thinks it's spending efficiently. It's flying blind.

  6. Shopify Scripts still running after the 2024 deprecation. Shopify killed Scripts and moved everything to Functions. A surprising number of Plus stores still have broken discount logic they haven't diagnosed yet.

  7. Broken 301 redirects after migration. Old URLs returning 404s that are still indexed. Google is crawling dead pages, link equity is leaking, and organic traffic is quietly dropping month over month.

  8. Back in stock flows not triggering. The app is installed, the button is on the page, customers are signing up -- and the emails are never sending because the inventory webhook isn't connected properly.

  9. Upsell apps conflicting with checkout. Two apps fighting over the same checkout extension slot. One silently loses. Nobody notices until conversion rate drops and everyone blames the ad creative.

  10. Shipping profiles misconfigured. Products showing as unavailable at checkout for certain zip codes or countries because shipping zones weren't set up correctly after a migration. Revenue just gone, no error message.

Bonus one we're seeing a lot in 2026: your store is invisible to AI. ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity -- when someone asks "best [your product category]" your store doesn't come up. Not because your SEO is bad but because AI pulls from different signals than Google. Structured data, llms.txt, cited sources, brand mentions in editorial content. This is the new technical debt and almost nobody is fixing it yet.
