Shimmer - Turn scattered Mac files into an organized library

by
Shimmer automatically organizes files on your Mac into a private, self-maintaining library. It works with folders like Desktop, Documents, and Downloads, and sorts files using names, extensions, and metadata, not file contents. You also get a Manual Library for anything you want Shimmer to leave alone, plus pause/resume controls and a one-click revert option for peace of mind.

Hi Product Hunt, I built Shimmer because file clutter on Mac builds up fast, especially in places like Desktop, Documents, and Downloads. I wanted something that could organize my files automatically without feeling risky or invasive. Shimmer creates a private, self-maintaining library on your Mac. It uses file names, extensions, and metadata to sort files, but it does not read file contents. I wanted privacy to be a core part of the product, not an afterthought. I also wanted it to feel safe to use in real life. That is why Shimmer includes a Manual Library for anything you want left alone, pause and resume controls, and a revert option so you can easily revert back to your original file layout. If you have questions, feedback, or ideas for where this could go next, I would love to hear them!
