We built ShieldRA after seeing how messy HIPAA readiness becomes for small healthcare teams in the real world. A lot of practices are still trying to manage risk assessments, policies, BAAs, evidence, and incident-response steps across spreadsheets, PDFs, inbox threads, and vendor docs. The problem we wanted to solve was not “make compliance look flashy,” it was “give lean teams a practical system to see gaps clearly, stay organized, and know what to do next.” As we worked on the product, the approach got narrower and better. We moved away from broad compliance-tool positioning and focused on the workflows that seemed most painful and repeatable for smaller practices: readiness assessment, evidence organization, business associate tracking, and breach-response follow-through. That also pushed us to keep the messaging honest. We’re not pretending compliance runs on autopilot. The goal is to make HIPAA readiness more manageable, more visible, and a lot less chaotic. Would especially love feedback from dental groups, clinics, rehab providers, compliance consultants, and healthcare operators who’ve had to live this pain firsthand.
