Dominick here, founder of SetRise. The origin of this tool is pretty simple: I watched people around me stop googling things and start asking ChatGPT instead. Where should I eat, who should redo my kitchen wiring, which photographer should I book. And I got curious about one question nobody could answer: when the AI answers, who gets recommended, and who just does not exist? So I built a tool to find out. EchoCheck asks ChatGPT and Claude the actual questions buyers ask about a business, then counts how often that business shows up in the answers, who gets named instead, and which websites the AIs cited as their sources. Then I started running it on real local businesses, and the results honestly shocked me. Most score near zero. A flooring company that has been operating since 2005 appeared in 0 of 20 answers while its competitor was cited 12 times. A sports bar with the best trivia night in town loses every single trivia related question because its event schedule exists only as images. These are real businesses losing real customers to an invisible ranking they do not know exists. The process taught me a lot the hard way. My favorite bug: an early version quietly fell back to a non search model when the search API failed, and it scored a business zero that real ChatGPT ranked first.
