Why we open-sourced RexaDB

We open-sourced RexaDB because we wanted to be fully transparent about what we’re building.

Our app already stands on the shoulders of open source: Supabase, Polar.sh, the Pi coding agent, Mastra for workflows, and more. It felt right to give back and put RexaDB itself out there for everyone to see, inspect, and improve.

We also hoped open-sourcing would give us a marketing boost.

It kind of worked — we still sit at $0 revenue (lol), but the traffic on our socials jumped and the love from the community has been real. That alone made it worth it.

More than anything, we just love the open-source community and want to support it in every way we can. Opening up RexaDB is one small way of doing that.
