Why we killed monthly subscriptions and went Pay As You Go
We switched LYQN from flat monthly pricing to pure pay as you go. Here's why
Hey everyone 👋
Quick story on why we ripped out our pricing and started over.
We used to charge a flat monthly fee like everyone else. $49, $99, $199 a month, take your pick. Then I looked at usage data from our smaller customers and felt kind of sick. Some of them were getting 30 messages a month and paying us $50 for it. That's $1.66 every time their AI answered a single customer question. For a tiny business just getting started, that's brutal.
So we scrapped it. LYQN is now pure pay as you go.
No messages this month? You pay nothing. Not "included in your plan," actually nothing.
Top up your wallet and it just sits there. No credits vanishing at the end of the month because you didn't hit some arbitrary number. Your $10 is still $10 next month, and the month after that.
If you're seasonal, like an ecommerce store that goes wild on Black Friday and quiet in February, you're not stuck choosing between an expensive enterprise tier or getting throttled. It just scales with whatever you actually need, automatically.
And we stopped charging per seat too. I always hated that Intercom and Zendesk nickel and dime you for every teammate you add. Bring your whole team in, doesn't cost us anything extra to give you access, so it shouldn't cost you anything either.
The part I like most though is the incentive shift. We only make $0.005 when our AI actually resolves something for your customer. Not when you're subscribed. Not when you forget to cancel. Only when we actually help. Feels like the only fair way to price this stuff.

Let me know what you think, genuinely curious if this resonates with how you'd want to pay for a tool like this 🙏
