Why I built SplitTimer

by•

I suffered from a severe bout of pneumonia four years ago and to aid my recovery, I was asked to do a series of breathing exercises daily. Some of these include the now famous 4-7-8 breath and the 1-4-2 sequence breath (). I however quickly noticed that I would lose track of the number of seconds I was to hold a breath for, or which breathing exercise would come next. I tried to use the Windows clock app to measure the number of seconds but would end up mentally adding numbers to a non stop running count to match the current breathing exercise. The whole thing was a mess.
I am perfectly fine now and can easily climb long stairs and hills with zero discomfort. But recalling the experience led me to build a timer for myself and for anyone who needed an all purpose multi interval timer. For this app, the duration of the timer can be split up into laps, then there is a rest period and the number of repetitions can also be set. In addition, laps can also be tagged with a double chime. In this way exercises like the 1-4-2 breath can be easily set up. For the 1-4-2 breath you breathe in for 1 second, hold for 4 and exhale for 2. Then rest. Then breathe in for 2, hold 8, exhale 4 and it goes on and on until count 10. Without a double chime to mark the end of an exercise this would have meant creating 10 different timers (1-4-2,2-8-4,3-12-6 etc). I am working on tagging for laps for a future update.
SplitTimer also allows chaining of saved timers and you can choose to have a voice announcement in 10 languages before each timer, so you can do a 4-7-8 breath after box breathing and so on.
It isn't just for breathwork but can work great for meditation exercises some of which are split up, exercises like multi-stance Zhan Zhuang, Pomodoros and so on. One timer for every routine.

For some reason I have struggled with pricing. Whenever I lower the price sales dry up. Not quite sure what the people want anymore.

Anyways, give it a try if you are interested and help spread the word.
