I rebuilt the iPod Classic as an app (Android now, iOS soon) — click wheel and Cover Flow!
Hey everyone,
I'm a solo indie dev based in Italy, and I just finished something I've wanted for years: NostalgicPod, an app that brings the iPod Classic back to life. The click wheel with haptic feedback, Cover Flow, that whole way of scrolling through your own music. It feels like the real thing.
But it's not just a pretty face. It's a serious player underneath: full FLAC and hi-res audio, gapless playback, internet radio, podcasts. All fully offline. No streaming, no ads, no subscriptions, no accounts. Just your music, on your device, the way it used to be!
I built it because I missed that era, when a music player was just a player. No algorithms deciding what you hear, no notifications, no feed. You'd scroll the wheel, pick a song, and listen.
If you grew up with an iPod and miss that feeling, this is for you. If you've got a FLAC collection sitting on your phone and streaming apps don't do it justice, this is for you too.
Android launches on Google Play in about a week (€4.99 one-time), with iOS planned right after!
