I'm the builder of Threelane. Here's how I made it and why.
Hey Product Hunt,
I'm the builder behind Threelane, shipping it from Dubai.
Why I built it
I make a lot of product demos and tech reels. Every smooth multi-cam tool I tried was either subscription-locked, cloud-locked, or both. Loom is fine for talking heads but breaks once you want a second camera. Riverside is great but pricey and online-only. ScreenStudio nailed cursor zooms but it's Mac-only and paid. Nothing was free, local, AND multi-cam. I got tired of waiting for someone to build it, so I did.
How I built it
The challenge wasn't recording. Capturing a screen and a webcam is solved. The hard part was making your phone act as a sync'd second camera over WiFi without capture cards, NDI boxes, or extra hardware. I built a small companion PWA that runs on the phone. Scan a QR from the desktop app, and you've got a synced second cam streaming over your local network. The desktop side is Electron with native capture APIs, with a custom multi-track timeline editor on top.
Shipped under MIT, no premium tier, no signup, no cloud. Footage never leaves your laptop.

Would love feedback, especially from anyone who's wrestled with multi-cam workflows. What am I missing?

Super cool solution for multi-cam demos, Ashmil! Tired of cloud-locked tools too...the local PWA sync is genius. Will check it out for my next reel.
If you're up for it, I'm launching The Sponge on PH soon...AI-powered flashcard app with a browser extension that turns any webpage into study material via spaced repetition. Would appreciate a follow (See "PRODUCT HUNT LAUNCH" Link in my profile)
