I keep seeing founders build more because they don’t know what their signals mean
Hey Product Hunt,
I’m an early indie builder learning AI coding and trying to build my first real web product.
One thing I keep running into is this:
Building is hard, but knowing what to do after building feels even harder.
You ship a landing page, a demo, or a small MVP.
Then you get a few signals:
“Cool idea.”
“This looks useful.”
A few upvotes.
Maybe some visits.
Maybe one signup.
Maybe no replies at all.
And then the confusing part starts.
Do you keep building?
Do you change the positioning?
Do you talk to a different type of user?
Do you treat the feedback as real demand, or just polite noise?
I’ve been reading a lot of founder posts here lately, and I keep seeing the same pattern.
A lot of people are not stuck because they can’t build.
They’re stuck because the feedback loop is broken somewhere.
They got some signal, but it’s not clear what that signal actually means.
For example:
A founder gets 20 comments saying “great product,” but nobody signs up.
Another founder gets signups, but nobody uses the product twice.
Someone else has a product with many possible use cases, but no idea which one should be tested first.
That’s the exact problem I’m trying to understand.
I’m currently testing a small validation assistant for early founders.
Right now it is still manual.
I look at a founder’s product, what they have already tried, and the feedback they have received so far. Then I try to help them find:
where the feedback loop seems to be breaking;
what part of the current signal may be misleading;
what evidence is still missing;
one small action they can run today to get a clearer answer.
Not a business plan.
Not generic “talk to users” advice.
More like:
“Here is the next smallest thing to test, where to test it, who to ask, what to say, and what result to wait for.”
I’m posting this because I want to hear from other builders who are in this messy stage too.
What is the most confusing signal you’ve received from your product so far?
For example:
people said they liked it, but didn’t use it;
people signed up, but never came back;
users asked for features, but you don’t know which ones matter;
you launched, got views, but no real feedback;
you don’t know whether to keep building, narrow the product, or change the user group.
Drop the confusing signal in the comments.
I’ll try to reply to a few with a concrete next validation step.
For anyone who wants a deeper review, I’m also collecting a few real cases through this form:
I’m not trying to judge whether your idea is “good” or “bad.”
I’m trying to understand where the current validation loop is broken, and whether one small action can make the next signal clearer.
