I built a VS Code extension that walks you through code you didn't write

Solo dev from Istanbul here. I built Lodestar, a VS Code extension for two things: figuring out how code you didn't write works, and checking changes before they go in, especially ones an AI wrote.

You ask how something works and it walks you through it step by step. Every step is a real line in your project, so you can jump straight to it. You can also hover anything for a short explanation, and it reviews your changes for bugs, security holes and AI leftovers.

It runs on whatever model you already have in VS Code, Copilot or any provider extension, so it's not locked to one provider.

It's $10 one time. I'm charging for it so I can keep working on it instead of dropping it, and it really helps me. It also launches here on Product Hunt on Oct 20.

How do you usually get your head around a codebase you didn't write? Curious what works for you.
