I built a vehicle rental platform — what would you improve?

by•

I've been building RentoX, a vehicle rental platform, as a way to work through some real product and engineering problems rather than just building another CRUD project.

The current version lets users:

  • Browse vehicles

  • Check availability for specific dates

  • Make and manage bookings

  • Receive real-time updates

On the engineering side, I've worked with Node.js, Express, PostgreSQL, Prisma, Redis and Socket.IO, including background workers and booking conflict handling.

I'm now at the point where I need feedback from people who didn't build the product themselves.

I'd especially like to hear:

  • What would make you trust a new rental platform?

  • What would frustrate you during the booking process?

  • What information would you expect before booking?

  • What feature would make this meaningfully better than existing rental platforms?

You can try it here:

I'm not looking for upvotes or compliments. I'd genuinely like to find the things that are confusing, unnecessary, or poorly designed.

If you've built or launched a product yourself, I'd also love to hear how you approached getting your first real users and feedback.
