I built a sleep-sounds app that checks how loud your room is before picking a sound
Hi PH, Khoa here, solo Flutter dev from Vietnam. Sharing what I've been building: Noctra, an ad-free white noise & sleep sounds app for iPhone and Android.
The problem
Most sleep apps hand you a grid of sounds and let you guess. But a quiet bedroom and a room next to a busy street need different masking. Pick the wrong one and you're awake at midnight, scrolling through sounds.
What Noctra does differently
Room scan (opt-in): reads your room's loudness (no audio is saved) and suggests a sound to match. A loud room (~78 dB) gets a deep brown-noise mix, for example.
Your own mix: white/brown/pink noise, fan, rain, thunder, ocean and forest, each with its own volume.
Routines: "Sleep Winddown" starts with rain and slowly shifts into deep brown noise over 60 minutes, then fades out.
Works offline, in the background and on the lock screen.
No ads. Rain, thunder, ocean and forest are free; the paid plan is intentionally cheap.

Where I'd love your feedback
Would you let a sleep app use your mic to check room noise if it says no audio is saved? What would make you trust it?
Room scan is currently a premium feature. Should a basic version be free?
Noctra is on the App Store and Google Play: producthunt.com/products/noctra-sleep. I'll answer every question in the comments.
