First $100 & 80 outbound clicks on RankHeist: What happened when we gamified startup discovery
A few days ago, I shipped a micro-experiment called RankHeist (rankheist.lol) to test a simple thesis:
Can an arcade-style bidding board deliver more active, recurring eyeballs to early-stage startups than static directory listings?
We just crossed our first revenue and traffic milestone:
• $101 in platform volume processed
• 80 direct outbound clicks driven to listed products
• 12 active startup listings secured
• 363 unique launch visitors
What stood out from the first 150 hours:
1. Founders want active control over placement.
Instead of submitting a link and hoping an algorithm surfaces it 3 weeks later, makers were actively watching the board and placing incremental bids to steal the #1 spot during peak hours.
2. Gamification drives real return visits.
Visitors don't revisit static directories. But with a live leaderboard that shifts in real-time and archives winners, people keep checking back to see who holds the top spot.
3. Vibe-coding handled the live stress test.
Building the real-time state sync and checkout webhooks with Gemini + Google Antigravity felt risky initially, but the stack held up through every live transaction without desyncing.
Huge thanks to the early founders who tested the board and trusted an indie experiment!

For the builders here: what was the milestone that proved your side project had real pulse beyond just friends-and-family clicks?
