Building Our First App as University Students 🚀
Over the past few months, we’ve been working on BetterCause between university classes and late-night coding sessions. The idea came from our own struggle understanding food products for our own diet.
Trying to figure out if a packaged product actually fits your diet or health goals usually means having to understand labels and searching up chemical additive names on your phone.
To fix that, we built an AI food scanner:
• Barcode Scanning: Point your camera at any packaged food for an immediate scan.
• Personalized Match: Get a score showing how well the item fits your specific diet, allergies, or health goals.
• Ingredient Breakdown: Clear AI explanations of complex additives and what it means for your personal diet or health.
From prototypes designed between classes to testing scans in local stores, we’ve finally reached the point where BetterCause is ready for release on Product Hunt tomorrow. If you want to leave some feedback on what we should improve next, drop a comment below! 👇
